Our Flower Journey
Hi, we’re Kandi and Mike Hebert, the husband-and-wife team behind Lady Lilac Flower Farm in Swanzey, New Hampshire. We're not just growers—we're dreamers, nature-lovers, and believers in the quiet magic of flowers.
Our story didn’t begin with a farm or a tractor. It began with a simple gift - two Bartzella Peonies that Mike gave me one spring. Just two plants that lit a spark in our hearts and passion to grow more.
Gardening has always been a part of our lives. Our yard was filled with flowers and vegetables, and we spent all our free time outdoors- hiking mountains, chasing sunsets, soaking in all the wild beauty New England has to offer. Nature was our happy peace.
Then, in 2023, everything changed when Mike was diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND). Our once busy life slowed, the hikes stopped and the future felt uncertain. We had to start fresh, finding new ways to connect with nature and a new special place to explore and grow side by side.
It was about this time, the peonies started to open, and so did a new chapter for us.
We dug in, literally and emotionally. As life shifted and FND made it harder for Mike to work the way he once had, he embraced a new rhythm-what he fondly calls "puttering." Slow and steady became his way forward. We planted more. We poured our hearts into the soil. We found comfort in the quiet tasks, the rhythm of the seasons, the tender care of each stem, and the quiet joy of watching something grow from almost nothing. The garden became our therapy, our purpose, our healing space
In 2025, we officially launched Lady Lilac Flower Farm-born not just from love of flowers, but from a deep need to heal, to hope, and to create beauty even in hard places.
Every bouquet we grow is a piece of that story. A reminder that joy can return. That even when life doesn’t go as planned, there is still room to bloom.

Kandi and Mike Hebert
OwnersThe husband-and-wife team behind the magic! Kandi and Mike share all the farm chores-yes, even the chicken wrangling and weed battles. Kandi runs the show behind the scenes with business smarts, seed starting wizardry, crop planning, and harvest hustle. Mike? He’s the ultimate farm hand; compost king, soil guru, bed builder, irrigation master, and chief of all things construction.
By day, they both have full-time jobs. By night (and weekends), they pour their hearts into this passion project they call a farm. It’s a little dirt, a lot of love, and a whole bunch of teamwork.
And let's not forget Finn, the four-legged heart of our flower farm. With chickens to watch, blooms to inspect, and humans (a.k.a. Mom and Dad) to supervise, he keeps everything running smoothly; mostly from the comfort of his favorite shade tree. When he’s not lounging like a pro, he’s always up for a good game of fetch with his trusty tennis ball.
Equal parts charm and chill, Finn is living proof that a good dog makes everything bloom a little brighter.
